 Hotel Montesol, IbizaThis impressive hotel was one of the very first built on the island of Ibiza. It's architecture was inspired by colonial buildings in the Caribbean. It was built in the 1930s, but was occupied in 1936 by the military in the Spanish civil war. It reopened to the public ten years later and by the 1950s had become known as one of the very best hotels on the island. Today, it may have been taken over by more up to date hotels, offering all the modern facilities that a holiday maker could requite, but it still offers a historic grandeur in the very centre of Ibiza Town.
