 Hippy Market Es CanarThe Hippy Market here, at Punta Arabi, is a sight to behold. Thousand of holiday makers jostle together in the heat and blazing sun to visit this vibrant open-air market. It is advertised as happening every Wednesday from 10a.m. To 7 pm, although I am pretty sure we were there on a different day of the week and it was still on... Here hundreds of stall holders, most of whom are either rather aging hippies or African traders sell a range of clothes, batik, jewellery, trinkets and leather goods. There is a heavy smell of incense, mingled with hot bodies and other, less legal fragrances. I kept my purse and handbag tightly held in front of me - it seemed the perfect venue for pickpockets as we were so tightly packed together. MORE... |
