Ibiza, Spain: Cala Vadella Cala Vedella
We stayed here for one week to visit Ibiza and had a wonderful time. It is absolutely beautiful and was perfect for our needs. You won't find large hotels, beach shops, lines of bars and all-day English breakfasts here. There are enough restaurants to go to a different one each evening - but only just (although we kept going back to our favourite). There is one small supermarket, a couple of diving centres and a hire car outlet and our apartment (Aparthotel Puerto Cala Vadella). No disco, no clubs or clubbers, no trendy, rich celebrities. Just people who wanted a quiet beach holiday as a couple or a family. Yum. There are a few other apartments and villas to hire on the hillside surrounding the bay, if you don't mind walking down to the beach. MORE... |

Flat sand, lots of room, parasols and sun-loungers and a small number of pedaloes. Also, a masseur has a stall on the beach (she is good - I injured my back and she really helped). Most of the beach is coned off for swimming, but a few fishing boats are moored around the outside. The beach is so sheltered that the water was warm and was practically flat while we were there (August 2009). This is a lovely spot to eat a romantic meal at the beach, and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The seven restaurants line the beach and although the "road" passes between the sand and you, it is just a bumpy stony track, not a 3 lane highway, so you feel as though you are right on the sand. (You can watch the children play, while you treat yourself to a well deserved cool beer.) We loved Ibiza, but most of all, we loved Cala Vadella.
